"Today was much more than just Christmas. It got me to rebuild some bridges and to remember that there are still positives in life and not to give up when things get hard."

“I wasn't feeling great waking up on Christmas morning as I usually do, but going to the Christmas Day event really made me enjoy the day and I'm grateful to everyone that's made it possible - thank you!”

“I had so much fun and got a bit emotional at the end as this was one of the best Christmases I've ever had. You have made a massive positive impact. We really appreciate every single one of the volunteers.”

"I felt overwhelmed in a good way when I got home. Wondering why and how so many people I don't even know have done this for me."

What our guests say...

Where It All Began

Asset 15_4x.png

Our story started in 2017 with a small group of volunteers led by Sian Thomas, a local nurse at the time. The idea was sparked on Christmas Eve 2016, when Sian met a young homeless man and learned he had grown up in care. Moved to act, she rallied volunteers and organised the very first Richmond Christmas Day Dinner.

Thanks to an ever-growing team of amazing volunteers and the incredible generosity of our community, we’ve been able to host this magical day every year since — welcoming 50 care leavers and their children to celebrate Christmas in warmth, comfort, and joy.

We are especially grateful to the Kurt Geiger Kindness Foundation, whose generous support since 2021 has helped make this celebration possible.

No one should spend Christmas alone.

Cocoon Christmas Day is our annual celebration for care-experienced young adults (18–25), giving them the warmth, joy, and sense of belonging that everyone deserves at Christmas.

Fifty young people from Hounslow, Kingston, and Richmond join us for a magical day filled with a chef-prepared Christmas feast, gift bags overflowing with high-quality presents, live entertainment, pampering, and every festive touch you can imagine.

It’s a day of laughter, connection, and unforgettable memories — made possible entirely by the kindness of our community.

Be part of the magic.
